Spermatorial Project in the Clinical Lab Sector

New and unique business case, Spermatorial Project in the Clinical Lab Sector

The Challenge

Design and develop a solution where the temperature protection requirements are not specifically defined at the outset.

Provide global knowledge and experience to design packaging with the proper temperature to transport sperm and special solvents to and from laboratories in a male fertility test for home use. This is a unique project and investment in this field in Turkey.

Fertility health is one of the most important issues for humanity and the health sector has performed significant steps to support couples in need in family planning.

Spermatorial Project 2

According to some research studies, the statistics representing fertility problems facing couples who seek support are distributed as follows; 40% based on men, 40% based on women and the remaining 20% have not yet been diagnosed or may be caused by both couple members. In male-related problems, sperm quality has a particularly important place in reproductive health. Sperm analysis is one of the most basic guidelines for male reproductive health in determining its quality. Further, an additional study on this subject, suggests that in recent years there has been a significant decrease in the sperm count and sperm concentration, which plays an important role in male reproductive potential. In today’s world, climate change, stress, change in living conditions, as well as sedentary lifestyle are significant factors affecting this decline.

Research

Obtaining scientific data to define the temperature stability conditions for specifical deliveries of sperm specimen in long distances.

A special temperature sensitivity range, between +4°C to 40°C but preferably between +4 °C to 25°C from laboratory to patient to provide a special solvent and cups and +25 °C to 40°C

Co-operation with the other component supplier (outer cartoon box) to place the insulation materials using most proper methods and specifications and to incorporate the aesthetics of the overall packaging which should demonstrate cleanness, hygiene and safety.

A very small and light package, which is normally more difficult to maintain during long duration times compared with larger packages.

Testing optional configurations indifferent seasonal conditions for more than 48 hours.

Spermatorial Project 3

Outcome

New design mobile solution, less than 2 lt for small size and special temperature sensitivity range. Mediline contribution to this new business venture includes both temperature controlled packaging and overall knowledge for stabilizing requirements in clinical laboratory projects. Mediline participation in this unique project for Turkey paves the way for further business innovation in the Health Sector to support communities with the ease of home-testing kits.
